Response to 'Everything Bad Is Good for You: Games'

While I was reading this essay, I found that I could relate to it with my personal experiences. As as a child and in my teenage years, I was not much of a reader for entertainment. I was always into the computer games and the games on the console. Books just really didn't capture my attention as much as video games did. Now I enjoy both video games and books, but back then I was interested in video games. My brother was the one in the family that enjoy reading books, while I on the other hand really could of cared less for reading. In the essay, the author talks about how the children in this generation are so wrapped up with TV and video games that they often shy away from gaining knowledge from books, they just work on their hand-eye coordination. The kids just sit in front of the TV for hours with their mouth hanging open just mesmerized by the show. I was not like this, but i preferred games over books because I was also pretty good at them. I found them enjoyable, especially the games that your good at and you would rather go to those than pick up a book.
